Verena Kaspar-Eisert is Chief Curator of the MuseumsQuartier E+B GesmbH, for which she oversees art projects within the complex, curates exhibitions in the MQ Freiraum, MQ Salon and MQ Art Box, supports the MQ Artist in Residence and programmes a diverse range of event and discussion formats.
From 2005 to 2011, she was the Curator and Exhibition Manager of the Kunstraum Niederösterreich, an exhibition space that opened in 2006 and where she established the focus on performance art. She then set up the OstLicht gallery, which she ran from 2011 to 2014. Between 2012 and 2014, she also managed the private photographic museum WestLicht. She was subsequently Curator of the Kunst Haus Wien from 2014 to 2022 and of the photographic festival FOTO WIEN from 2019 to 2022. She has curated international group exhibitions like Visions of Nature, ÜberLeben am Land and Nach uns die Sintflut, which addressed the relationship between people and nature in the Anthropocene Age. She has developed major solo shows with artists such as Rinko Kawauchi, Joel Meyerowitz, Martin Parr, Elina Brotherus, Susan Meiselas and Gregor Sailer. And she has realised individual projects devoted to the issue of art and ecology with artists including Iris Andraschek, Oliver Ressler, Ines Doujak and Judith Fegerl. Verena Kaspar-Eisert specialises in contemporary photography and visual art that investigates ecological and socially relevant subjects.
